Companies House new ID verification checks

Changes this month from Companies House including ID verification checks. From 18 November 2025, business owners, directors and persons of significant control will be mandatory. By 18 November 2026, existing individuals registered on Companies House must have completed the digital ID verification check. Anyone making a new registration will have to follow the procedure to complete the ID verification test, through the GOV.UK One Login gateway or an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP).

From February 2026, Companies House fees are mostly increasing. In a clear effort to encourage digital filing it will cost £50 for a digital filing fee (up from £34) with the physical filing fee almost doubling to £110 from £62.

For new businesses, it will cost £100 for a digital filing of incorporation (up from £50) with a physical filing £121 (currently £71).

I have worked with Ortolan Legal since 2010 and used their services extensively. They have provided corporate and commercial legal advice and we have also drawn on their capability in the areas of employment law, dispute resolution and property law. What makes them so different is their ability consistently to deliver commercially focussed and high quality advice at a price point which simply cannot be matched by other law firms. They aim to strip out unnecessary overhead costs, concentrate on the quality of their core service and pass on these cost savings to their clients. It works.
