Lockdown 3.0

The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (No. 3) and (All Tiers) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 aka Lockdown 3.0 Regulations came into force on 6 January 2021.

Businesses that have been ordered to close (and to remain closed until February) include non-essential retail, hospitality and leisure. The Chancellor Rishi Sunak has made available a one-off grant worth up to £9000 for affected businesses. Businesses can check eligibility here.

Employers should of course by now know that the government’s National lockdown: Stay at home guidance instructs people to stay at home unless they have ‘reasonable excuse’ - such exemptions allow people to leave their home for work when it is ‘ unreasonable for them to do their job from home’ but that where possible employers should make provision for employees to work from home.

I’ve personally worked with Ortolan Legal’s managing director on a number of transactions. Their legal advice doesn’t come wrapped in multiple caveats; it takes account of the commercial realities businesses face. Technically, they are really capable and they’re also highly personable people to work with. They represent real value for money.
