Modern Slavery updates

The Government has published its response to the UK Joint Committee on Human Rights’ July 2025 report. This is the report in response to the inquiry about forced labour in international supply chains. Reforms to the current framework are proposed.

In October 2025, the Cabinet Office published an updated Anti-slavery Risk Tiering Tool (ARTT) and guidance. While optional, the tool is ready to use immediately and is a practical way to support compliance with PPN 009. It supports efficiency and enables faster, more consistent assessments and helps embed modern slavery risk management into everyday procurement practices. This follows statutory guidance published in July 2025 relating to Transparency in Supply Chains, issued by the Home Office.

I’ve personally worked with Ortolan Legal’s managing director on a number of transactions. Their legal advice doesn’t come wrapped in multiple caveats; it takes account of the commercial realities businesses face. Technically, they are really capable and they’re also highly personable people to work with. They represent real value for money.
