No Increase To Statutory Payments - First time in over 20 years

The Department for Work and Pensions has published proposed rates for the tax year beginning on 6 April 2016. For the first time in many years it is proposing that there will be no increase to maternity, paternity, redundancy and sick pay (or the qualifying earnings thresholds) for 2016-17.

This means that until March 2017:

  • Prescribed rate for statutory maternity/paternity pay will remain at £139.58/week;
  • Statutory sick pay will remain at £88.45 /week;
  • Capped “week’s pay” (for redundancy purposes) will remain at £475.

I’ve personally worked with Ortolan Legal’s managing director on a number of transactions. Their legal advice doesn’t come wrapped in multiple caveats; it takes account of the commercial realities businesses face. Technically, they are really capable and they’re also highly personable people to work with. They represent real value for money.
